Fall Fashion Trends I Can't Wait to Wear
It's officially now autumn, according to the calendar! While it's still been a bit too hot in New York to fully break out the sweater weather wear, I've been mentally preparing myself for all the cute outfits I can soon wear. While I wait for it to cool down, I wanted to put together a post that showcases my favorite trends for Fall 2015 and give some inspiration to those wanting to make sure they know what's in for the season. I was featured on the Independent Fashion Bloggers website the other day, so check out my interview and see what I have to say about my fashion inspirations. This is the item I am most excited to wear when it finally gets chilly enough to put it on. This beautifully colored coat is definitely the staple of the fall and winter season. While the traditional peacoat was the "it" coat of last year, this more masculine-style cut of jacket is taking over this year. It's highly versatile and can go with any look, casual or fancy.Ankle boots have been making their way back for a couple years now, but this year is when Chelsea boots are really making a comeback as the shoe to wear. Think 1960s mod style. You definitely saw The Beatles wearing shoes like this. Now us women are taking the shoe for ourselves and giving them a feminine twist with a slight heel or adornments.I have to admit that I really was reluctant to get back into ripped jeans, especially after they were something I wore as a gothic/emo teenager. But they're coming back in for the Fall and they're starting to grow on me again. While skinny jeans are barely holding on by a thread in terms of being the style everyone wants, boyfriend jeans are becoming the new way to go. Either cut you want, the hole-y look is back and looks better than you'd expect. While cloth tote bags aren't usually strong enough to hold all the items we tend to trek around, these cute, sturdy bags are the way to go. Seriously, they're the best option for when you have quite a few things to carry, but don't want to have to take multiple bags. I've been pretty loyal to over-the-shoulder bags for awhile now, but didn't understand the ultimate use of these handbags until now. They don't just look trendy, they're actually useful. These are another fashion staple that won't go out anytime soon, but now that it's autumn, they're a bit warmer than a normal top so it feels more appropriate to wear them again. Fall is when layering becomes something you can do again, and these tops are great for that purpose. They go great as a cardigan-type layer or just as a normal top. Denim on denim is also okay again (having been made a mockery of when Justin and Britney wore their hideous outfits to the 2001 AMA's).
You know those huge scarves that don't make sense to wear? Well, it makes sense again this season. While smaller scarves are still in, these huge plaid ones that you could literally use as a blanket are definitely a staple of this autumn. There's a few ways to style them. You can just wear it around your neck, tuck it into your belt, or even use it as a poncho of sorts. I have one waiting in my closet for it to be cold enough to wear.
Oxblood is one of my favorite colors for makeup. The deep, almost purple-red coloring of it is making a comeback for the season. While slightly out of place in warmer weather, this dark red looks great in a colder setting. I think this is a color that can look good on any skin tone. Some may worry that it will give them too much of a gothic look, but as long as the rest of your makeup is minimal and you aren't dressing like a vampire, it looks very sexy and just edgy enough to work.
Some may say this is a spring/summer item, but for this fall, t-shirt dresses are very appropriate. Just slip on some tights, leggings or thigh-high socks on under them and they transfer seamlessly to the Fall. They are really a great transition item for the days while it's still warm enough to pull off the look, but isn't insanely cold yet. While I'm normally for tailored dresses, the t-shirt dress can look great with a cardigan or chambray shirt tied around the waist to add some definition to your curves.
