Lady Dinah's Cat Emporium

After booking a date with my friend Allison back in January, yesterday the time finally came for us to take tea at Lady Dinah's Cat Emporium. It wasn't until I used CityMapper to find out where it was, that heading over to Brick Lane to dine with the cats, made so much sense. Of course a cat cafe would be near Shoreditch (aka hipster niche store central).

Anyways, I met up with Allison and her boyfriend to have a nice sit down lunch, surrounded by a bunch of lovely kitties. With a £6 entry fee, it can feel a bit steep just to pay extra to be able to eat and drink in a place that houses sleeping cats, but the money goes towards the care of the animals and that's all right with me.

There are quite a few rules to follow, including only touching the cats if they're awake and walking around. You can't pick them up, and must wash your hands before entering the room. I think, in the end, it's a lovely idea, but I'd rather just wait until I own my own cat rather than paying to go spend an hour with some that aren't completely interested in being pet.

Though still, it was a nice afternoon, the tea was lovely, the ambiance of the building is very chic and it's always wonderful to be in the presence of cats. It's definitely something to do in London if you have the extra time and want to at least say you've done it. Make sure you book far in advance though, as they have a reservation system required to enter.
