That One Time When I Attended the BAFTAs Red Carpet
The pop culture obsessed, freak inside of me got its just rewards last night when I was one of the lucky people to be able to get a wristband to attend the fan viewing area of the BAFTAs. On early Saturday morning, I went down to Covent Garden to get in line to get a coveted wristband. It was cold and my feet and hands became numb very quickly, but after almost 8 hours of waiting patiently, I got that band around my wrist and could leave to go home and prepare myself for the next day.
I met some lovely, sweet people in line, which made the waiting part so much more bearable. We met up the next morning at 11:30am to be let into the pens around 12:30. I was number 126, and was hopeful to get a front spot on the barriers. As they finally let us in, most of the good spots were taken, but further down the row, we got our spots right up against the metal rods and waited yet again for the event to start. After doing red carpet things like this now quite a few times, I've gotten used to the impatient hours between getting locked in and the arrivals, but once you see the first celebrity hit the carpet, the adrenaline kicks in and you forget how cold you are and how there's 100 people pushing you further into the barrier.
Overall, it was an amazing night. I got to see tons of movie stars and got plenty of autographs and selfies to last me for awhile. I wasn't in the best spot for getting signatures, but I was happy to get some from a lot of non-nominees, and still see a lot of stars doing their interviews. My autographs this time around included Henry Cavill (Superman), Jim Carter (Carson from Downton Abbey), John Boyega (the black stormtrooper from the new Star Wars), Noel Clarke (Mickey from Doctor Who), Sam Claflin (Finnick from the Hunger Games), Douglas Booth (Jupiter Ascending), Dianna Agron (Quinn on Glee), Imelda Staunton (Umbridge from Harry Potter), James McAvoy and Stephen Moffat (Doctor Who & Sherlock writer).
And then I have these three lovely selfies with James McAvoy, Andrew Scott and Sam Claflin, so I am a very happy woman and hope you enjoy the rest of the best photos I took from this glorious event. I saw a lot more stars than pictured below, but these are the shots that came out the best.
